Advisors' Opinion:- [By Reuters] ATLANTA -- A credit card data breach has been detected that exposed guests at certain Marriott, Holiday Inn, Sheraton and other hotel properties to theft, hotel management firm White Lodging Services said Monday. The breach occurred at food and beverage outlets at 14 hotels, including some operated under the Westin, Renaissance and Radisson names, between March 20 and Dec. 16 last year, White Lodging said in a statement. The company said information subject to potential theft by cybercriminals included names and numbers on consumers' debit or credit cards, security codes and card expiration dates. Customers who used their cards at the affected outlets should review all statements from the time in question and consider placing fraud alerts on their credit files, White Lodging said. White Lodging wouldn't estimate how many card numbers might have been taken. Krebs on Security, the cybersecurity blog that first reported the breach Friday, said thousands of accounts had been compromised. The latest data breach comes after the FBI warned retailers last month to prepare for more cyber attacks after discovering about 20 hacking cases in the past year involving the same kind of malicious software used against Target (TGT) over the holiday shopping season. The incident involving Target, the No. 3 U.S. retailer, was one of the biggest retail cyber attacks in history. In a confidential, three-page report to retail companies the FBI described the risks posed by "memory-parsing" malware that infects point-of-sale systems, which include cash registers and credit-card swiping machines in checkout aisles. Restaurants and lounges affected by the White Lodging breach were at hotels in Chicago; Austin, Texas; Richmond, Va.; Plantation, Fla.; Denver; Boulder and Broomfield, Colo.; Louisville, Ky.; Erie, Pa.; Indianapolis; and Merrillville, Ind., the company said. With over 4,000 properties worldwide, and 2013 gross revenue of over $13 billion, Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR ) is one hotel company worth watching now. With 18 brands including Marriott Hotels, Ritz Carlton, and others in both the luxury and mass-market segments, the company has been aggressively expanding in the past five years, and its growth in number of properties has helped to spur its growth in profits and share value. But even after the incredible run-up in the company stock over the past year, it still doesn't look very expensive in the industry, especially compared with competitors such as Hilton Worldwide (NYSE: HLT ) .

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Sean Williams]
Where's the beef, DexCom?
Sometimes a company's products make a lot of sense on paper, but the practical application doesn't go nearly as smoothly. This is how I'd describe medical monitoring device maker DexCom (NASDAQ: DXCM ) , which has an array of glucose monitoring devices to help diabetes patients better manage their disease. Make no mistake about it; the number of diabetes diagnoses in this country is rising in accord with our obesity rate. Therefore, a company like DexCom, which makes the DexCom G4 System monitor, could be a big hit, and certainly has a wide enough audience to cater to.

Among his top holdings are Ford (F) and GM (GM), which have benefited from exceptionally low interest rates plus the normal replacement cycle of cars, which had been disrupted by the recession and falling home prices.
- [By Doug Ehrman]
Despite a run of about 50% in the last year, Ford (NYSE: F ) stock has a bullish case given certain realities overseas. Despite the first signs of growth in the automotive sector finally showing up in April, Ford stock is likely to be affected by the company's loss on its European operation. This may be largely hiding some of the strength of the overall numbers and cause the market to undervalue Ford stock in the near term. Furthermore, while Ford is leading the way, the European situation is poised to benefit other automakers, including General Motors (NYSE: GM ) .
